Recover Files on Flash/External/Hard Drive that Changed to Shortcuts

If you connected your flash drive to an infected computer, all your existing files may get converted into shortcuts. The file names will be weird. But if you check the space usage, you will find that the data is still there. No need to worry!

I have a solution.
Just follow simple steps below:

• Connect your pen/flash/external drive to your computer.
• Go to My Computers and check what drive it is assigned for example F: or G: drive. Lets assume its G: (replace it with correct letter as applicable in your case).
• Click on “Start” –>”Run”–> type cmd and hit OK. This will start command prompt.
• Enter the following command and hit “Enter”.

attrib -H -R -S /S /D G:\*.*

Enable "God Mode" In Windows 10

The feature first appeared in Windows 7, but in case you were not aware of it, “God Mode,” which is a hidden menu allowing you to access all available configuration parameters in one simple location, is still available in Windows 10.

The only thing your need to do to activate “God Mode” is to create a new folder on you desktop (right click your desktop -> New -> Folder) and then assign this name to it: GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

Hide Secret Data In Txt Files Using Cmd

Open command prompt and type the following syntax:

notepad AnyFileName.txt:SecretData.txt

Here “AnyFileName” is the actual filename of the text file while “SecretData.txt” is the hidden stream contained within AnyFileName.


A window will popup asking for your confirmatoin. Click Yes.










A notepad editor will appear. You can now type the sensitive data that you want to hide.









Go to File -> Save to save the file.

You can add more than one hidden stream in the same file. Simply type the same command (but with different stream name) to add the new stream.

Notice that the main file name is “AnyFileName.txt” and there are no clues from the exterior that it contains a hidden file within it.

How do I access the hidden data?

To read the hidden stream from command prompt type the syntax below:

more < FileName.txt:StreamName.txt


For instance in our example the command should be
more < AnyFileName.txt:SecretData.txt












How do I detect the hidden file if I've forgotten the file name?

Yes you can detect the hidden files using the application Stream.exe. This application will monitor all the files with the stream file name if they exist.

For instance the syntax of detecting the hidden stream is

streams.exe AnyFileName.txt









If you want to delete just the stream from the file then type this command:


streams.exe -d AnyFileName.txt










This command will delete all the streams from the file AnyFileName.txt.

The above process is very handy to store some private text data in your system. Unless the other users of your PC are tech savvy or hackers, the chances are they will never notice your little secrets.

Emails and SMS both are very fast services to send information easily and fast in written format. We not only use these services for chit-chat but many times we use emails or SMS to send very confidential information such as any account’s password, credit card number, ATM PIN, etc.

After sending emails/SMS if you don’t want anyone else to read your message, it is recommended to use self-destructing messages. These messages when read once, will automatically gets deleted. 1. SECRETINK

SecretInk is a powerful startup that lets you send both self-destructing emails and SMS for free. SecretInk send private link through email/SMS to receiver from where they will read your secret message. After reading the link and its message both will get destroyed.

All you need to do is just go and login SecretInk with your Google/Gmail account and you’re good to go. Now you can send unlimited self-destructing emails. Your message will be fully anonymous. That means, you can add different Reply-To email/SMS address and receiver will have no trace about who send the message.

2. DESTRUCTINGMESSAGE.COM

It is another great website to send self-destructing emails. Unlike SecretInk, you can send time for self-destruct from 15 seconds to 5 minutes. Similar to SecretInk, your email will be anonymous unless you add personal identifiable information inside email.

You can type your secret self-destructing message and generate link that you can send your friend through SMS, facebook message etc. Generated link will be active for 90 days before opening it and read secret message.

3. GHOSTMAIL

If you didn’t find the self-destructing service that can fulfil your need then here is GhostMail for that. Rather than sending a link through email, GhostMail send direct self-destructing email to the receiver. The receiver is not required to visit any link to read your email.

Once receiver reads your email, you’ll get notified at GhostMail account and the email will be vanished from receiver’s webmail. Creating GhostMail account is free and you’re required to sign in your Gmail/Google account to create your account here.

4. MOBILE APPS TO SEND SELF-DESTRUCTING SMS

Unfortunately, not a single web service is available that let you send direct self-destructing SMS without making receiver navigate to a link but Wickr App available for both Android and iOS device will let you do this. Wickr is available for free to use at both the platforms. It lets you send self-destructing, secure, private, anonymous messages & media easily.

5. BROWSER EXTENSIONS

Two chrome browser extensions, Boomerang Gmail and mxHero Toolbar are available to supercharge your Gmail experience. Boomerang Gmail is paid while mxHero Toolbar is a free extensions. Both of these extensions adds features like email tracking, scheduled emails, private delivery features to Chrome with Self-destructing email feature too.

Solutions To Error “Cannot Delete Folder: The Directory Is Not Empty”

There are many problems I’ve come across while working the computer help-desk. One of the common issues I’ve encountered is one that involves folders not deleting properly. When this issue occurs, an error message appears that says “Cannot Deletefoldername: The directory is not empty“.

This problem can happen in Windows 8, 7, Vista, and XP. Usually, the problem can be solved by with a Chkdsk scan. This can be done be following these steps.

• Type one the following based on your operating system:

1. Windows 8, 7 & Vista: Click start, type “CHKDSK /F: in the Start Search box, then press “Enter“.
2. Windows XP: Go to “Start” > “Run“. In the Open: line type “CHKDSK /F” and press “Enter“.Note: If the folder you are trying to delete is located on a drive that is not your C: drive, add the drive letter to the end of the command. Example: CHKDSK /F E:

• If you used a drive letter in the command above, you will get a prompt about dismounting the drive. Type “Y” for Yes and press “Enter“.
• Most likely, you will get a message like the following:

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)
Type “Y” for Yes and press “Enter” on your keyboard.

• Nothing will happen just yet. You’ll have to restart your computer, to let the scan run. Once the scan is completed, try to delete the folder. You should be able to delete it just fine because CHKDSK has fixed the errors preventing it.
